ONE PIECE THEORIES
content: one piece spoilers up to whole cake island + wano luffy spoilers
I'm just gonna get right into it. SO, I have just started Wano and I have some theories about what is to come with Luffy later. I have seen an image of him from later in the arc which I assume is going to be Gear 5.
During Whole Cake Island we see that the Minks can turn into some kind of stronger version of themselves if they look at a full moon, which is called Sulong. I don't think that they would have gone into such a detailed explanation right before the Wano arc if this was not relevant to what is to come.
I think that Luffy can do the same thing... somehow. I don't know why (maybe he is from some sort of clan that he is unaware of? maybe something to do with his mother?). I don't think it has anything to do with Dragon, but I could be wrong. It also might not have anything to do with his parents and could be something else entirely.This is what I am going with though.
I do believe Luffys transformation/new power has something to do with Joyboy too and the straw hat. In Reverie we saw someone (Lord Imu I think they were called) go into a locked room that had what looked like a giant straw hat (could have been regular sized, looked like it was for someone with a huge head though).
I think that the straw hat that is locked away has something to do with Joyboy; the hat possesses some kind of power. We have seen that Roger and Luffy can both hear sea kings and they could also both hear Zou; both possessed the straw hat at those times.
I don't really know much right now about anything that is going on so all of these theories are going to be very messy, but bear with me. Shanks obviously gave the hat to Luffy, but I believe that Shanks knew the power of the hat, given the fact he was close with Roger. Shanks knowing that both Roger and Luffy are part of the D clan possibly influenced this; I have no idea what the D means yet, but yeah lol.
Talking more about Joyboy, in Fishman Island when Robin speaks to King Neptune they have a conversation about Joyboy. Neptune mentions how Joyboy said that he will come back eventually (or something along those lines; I don't fully remember). I am genuinely unsure if Joyboy is a person or rather some kind of ability like Shirahoshi has. She has the ability to control the sea kings but so did the mermaid princess from back when Joyboy was around. This is why Luffy MUST have something to do with Joyboy. I think it's an ability called Joyboy and it has something to do with the hat; I HAVE NO CLUE. I am excited to read back on this when I know more though LOL.
I am hoping that it doesn't have anything to do with time travel. We know that Kin'emon and others traveled 20 years into the future with the time time fruit, so hopefully it's not anything to do with that. I don't believe it will be given the fact both Luffy and Roger possessed similar abilities and we have seen Luffy growing up, so it wouldn't really work. It's not that it would be TERRIBLE if it was time travel, but there's so many time travel animes that it would kinda be a bit wank; I have faith if we went down that path Oda would be able to make it unique though.
